ONE THREE EIGHT

A Boldly Refined Flat Shaped by Rhythm, Mood, and Contrast

Centrum

AMSTERDAM, NETHERLANDS

This 75 m² / 807 ft² two-bedroom flat in the heart of Amsterdam was reimagined with a bold, music-driven aesthetic inspired by underground techno culture, layered with subtle funk and disco influences. Working within structural limitations that restricted major alterations, the transformation focused on high-impact surface upgrades—refreshed flooring and a considered use of vivid, contrasting colour—to completely shift the atmosphere of the space.

The design approach balances mood and functionality, using deep tonal contrasts and intentional styling to create a distinctive, immersive environment. Matte black finishes and high-spec appliances introduce a modern, refined edge, while carefully selected lighting elements bring a dynamic, expressive character to the interiors.

Playful yet curated details—such as metallic blue Edison bulbs and a rotating disco ball activated by music—add rhythm and personality, turning everyday living spaces into an experiential environment. The result is a high-energy yet considered apartment that merges lifestyle, creativity, and functional design in the centre of Amsterdam.
